Modified Verbatim
This is our preferred style and the default style we use for most documents. We capture everything that was said without modifying one spoken word to express in writing the true meaning of the digital content.
Modified verbatim does not include uhs and ums, meaningless repeated speech (such as, okay, mm-hmm, and all right, when these expressions are used uselessly, over and over), or any meaningless utterances. We can capture exactly what was said without applying the strict verbatim convention.*

Transcript Checklist
We encourage all clients to include as much of the following information as possible when uploading files to ensure we can provide you with the best estimate and best transcription service. Of course, we are always available by phone to discuss whatever other details you might like to talk about. Thank you.
Information About Your File
Please include the following:
1.) How many speakers?
2.) How long is the audio, or how many pages is the document, whichever applies for the service you would like?
3.) What is the audio quality? Please indicate how clear the audio is, to the best of your knowledge.
4.) Please include any name lists or pertinent information you may have that would make for a clearer transcript. Of course, we do impeccable research to find and spell correctly all proper names, but it helps to save time if you include as much corroborating information as possible. This ensures a more accurate transcript and more timely delivery.
5.) Please include any other information you feel will help with the document, such as historical context or something else we may need to know about.
6.) Please indicate your TAT (turnaround time).
7. ) If you would like to use a template of your own, please include that template when you send us the audio files. If you have desired formatting in mind, please include the details of the formatting you would like us to use.

Debunking AI
Artificial intelligence for transcription, or speech-to-text technology, seems to be everywhere, as if AI speech-to-text were replacing people to do the work. Most of the general public believes this is true because they do not clearly understand what transcription is and what it takes to do the job perfectly.
The reality of the speech-to-text technology industry is that many companies providing AI transcription are appearing, but that is in anticipation of more refinements to come, and not a reflection that a computer program can create a completed, client-ready transcript from your audio. We are not there yet. A person still has to edit the rough draft heavily, making subtle transcription decisions along the way. It is still transcription.
A new industry called "digital scoping" is starting to augment traditional transcription. This is where the technician transforms an AI-generated document into a finished transcript. The process is best completed by a skilled transcriptionist. Why?
Speech-to-text computer programs cannot distinguish speaker changes predictably and cannot properly identify and implement most grammar decisions and nuances of punctuation.**
Machines do not have an emotional or a discriminative relationship with language because they are not sentient, so they can't react to the subtleties of language or tones in speech to make correct decisions about how to reproduce English in transcription.
I’ve spent the last three years immersed in digital scoping, working every day to make accurate transcription documents from AI-generated rough drafts, so my observations come from personal experience in the field. I use arguably the "best" speech-to-text company in the industry.
